Operational
Risk Review and Internal Controls
The Pensions Act 2004 and the subsequent scope document entitled
'Internal Controls' issued by the Pensions Regulator will
significantly increase the burden of reviewing and mitigating
risk. Trustees will have to demonstrate that they have had
appropriate controls and monitoring in place. Trustees are
demanding greater clarity regarding the running of their pension
scheme so as to be comforted that they are not unnecessarily
exposed to failure (by delegating actions to vendors) of their
responsibilities.

has developed a framework for an initial risk evaluation and
creation of a risk report on a regular basis with a three
page executive summary. This allows trustees to see at a glance
issues arising and importantly gives them the opportunity
to act in a timely manner.
